MY PLAB PREPARATION

SUMMARY:

  • PLABABLE x 2 times + Mocks
  • PLAB KEYS x 3 times
  • PLABVERSE
  • MEDREVISIONS  (only did Mocks)
  • 1700 DR. KHALID (outdated)

Preparation period: 4 months (5-6 hours/day)

STRATEGY:

PLABABLE + PLABKEYS ➡️ PLAB KEYS ➡️ PLABABLE  ➡️ MEDREVISION MOCKS ➡️ PLABABLE MOCKS ➡️ PLABABLE BIG MOCK ➡️ EXAM!

1. PLABABLE

- Took 35 days approx to finish the first time (Do it along with PLAB KEYS).

- Took 15 days approx the second time (only PLABABLE).

- Did PLABABLE mocks 20 days before my exam.

- Went through flagged questions 4-5 days before my test.

- Also did the PLABABLE BIG MOCK (separate subscription).

(RED PEN - 1st Read, BLUE PEN -2nd Read)

2. PLAB KEYS

- Finished 1st read along with PLABABLE.

- Did 2nd read before doing PLABABLE 2nd time. Took 15 days.

(PLAB KEYS 2nd Read schedule)

3. PLABVERSE

- Did PLABVERSE in the very beginning before any other source just to get an overview.

- I found it well organised and time saving. It had only around 300 pages, so I got it printed

- Later on I used plabverse only for reference. It's not necessary if you are studying from plab keys but I didn't want to miss out on anything so I went through it.

5. MEDREVISIONS

- Used only for the mocks section (just the high yield questions).

- Helped me gain a deeper understanding of plabable topics and also helped in managing time as the questions were lengthier than plabable.

- You can customise the mocks! I used to set 150 mins for every mock (180q’s).

6. 1700 Q’S BY DR. KHALID:

- Wouldn't advice cause majority have controversial outdated answers. Instead join Dr. Khalid discussion group on fb and solve there.

7. NOTES:

- Prepare notes on volatile topics from each subject during your 2nd read because by the 2nd time you come to know which topics seem difficult to you.

- Look through these notes 2 days before your exam.

8. PLABABLE 4 DAY REVISION COURSE:

- Didn't attend

- They basically go through important topics in every subject. If you have read Plabable thoroughly then it is not necessary.

- This course is usually for those who don't have time for revision or are preparing in the last moment.

- Instead join the telegram group: ANYONE CAN TEACH BY PLABABLE. They share questions and also take free webinars on difficult topics.

SUGGESTIONS:

  • Always make a schedule and try to stick to it so that you know where you stand. It also gives you an idea on how many days are left for revision. For instance if you manage to solve 20q per hour, that's roughly 100q per 5 hours, so this way you will work more efficiently.

  • Making sticky notes of difficult topics and sticking them at a place where you could view them daily helps a lot.

  • A study partner isn't a must but they help you to be motivated and on track with your schedule.

  • Don't worry about your PLABABLE mock scores. Ideally it would be good to score >80% in 2.5 hours. But the important thing is to revise the explanations. I can't stress this enough, Revise! Revise! Revise!

  • The key is revision! Revise topics that are volatile multiple times! Put sticky notes up the wall/make notes, anything that helps you to revise them again.

  • On the exam day, make sure you have extra pencils with you so that you don't have to sharpen in between your exam. Keep looking at the clock and check your progress every 10 mins.

  •  You don't get a rough sheet for calculations but you are allowed to freely scribble on the question paper. So underline, do calculations, go crazy on the question paper.

  • Don't circle the OMR sheet in the end, keep shading as you are ticking the answers.
